The Slovak Defence Ministry will use both intelligence and equipment to ensure security during February's Bush-Putin summit in Bratislava, Defence Minister Juraj Liška told the TASR news agency.
Liška said that Slovakia's armed forces are able to protect the country's airspace. He doesn't know whether foreign aircraft will also guard the fly-over zone because the Interior Ministry is co-ordinating such security measures.
The government has earmarked Sk205 million (€5.3 million) for the Bush-Putin summit. The money will be spent on special police, arms and engineering equipment. During the event 5,500 police officers and 400 firefighters will be on duty.
