Michael Smyth has become the new president of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Slovakia, the SITA newswire wrote on June 17. He replaces Robert Šimončič, who resigned from the post after accepting an offer to serve as the director general of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO).
Smyth is the director general of technology company Dell, s.r.o., Bratislava. He became a member of AmCham’s board of directors in April 2008. He comes from Ireland and is married with two children.
AmCham was established in 1993. Among its members are more than 300 international and Slovak companies that generate about 20 percent of Slovakia’s gross domestic product (GDP).
