Approximately 180 regular employees will be fired by engineering company PPS Group Detva, based in Banská Bystrica Region, by the end of the year due to a rapid drop in demand from one of the company's key clients, the TASR newswire reported on Thursday, November 9.
The report was confirmed by the company's trade union chairman, Stanislav Lupták. The exact number of those who will be made redundant, and the criteria that will be used to select those to be dismissed, will be known after unions meet the PPS Group Detva management board today (Friday, 9 November).
The company, which has 1,189 regular employees, currently also employs about 235 people via personnel agencies and on temporary employment contracts – the majority of these are also expected to be affected by the decision.
