“[The doctor] was detained when receiving a bribe this morning,” head of the National Anti-corruption Unit Róbert Krajme told aktualne.sk.

Aktualne.sk reported that the doctor requested a bribe for issues directly related to his work, specifically operations and giving preference to certain patients.

DFNsP spokesperson Dana Kamenická has confirmed the authenticity of the report for the TASR newswire.

“The Children’s Faculty Hospital and Policlinic is aware of action taken by the National Anti-corruption Unit at one of the hospital’s departments,” reads the hospital’s statement, as quoted by TASR.

Kamenická added that the hospital will not comment on the issue while the probe is under way.

“The hospital’s leadership is strictly against this and won’t put up with corruption on the part of any of its employees; if such behaviour is proven, it will take action,” said Kamenická, as quoted by TASR.
