Doctors reject ‘name and shame’ scheme

Doctors are furious with Health Minister Roman Kováč for publishing a list of doctors who according to the Health Ministry prescribed the most drugs last year. The ministry is trying to cut down on the costs of Slovakia’s virtually 100 per cent subsidised health care system, but doctors say the latest move does not take into account what kind of practice doctors have, or the needs of their patients, and thus offers no basis for comparison.
