According to the President of the Slovak Union of Doctors-Specialists, Andrej Jančo, deadly peace has spread over the Slovak health-care system saying that a survey among doctors-specialists has found that under the lid, problems are beginning to boil, the SITA newswire reported.
State and private hospitals consider shortage of finances to be the most serious and biggest problem of the system. Moreover, insufficient renewal of equipment and technology is related, inability to repay debts, as well as an insufficient number of doctors and other health-care personnel plague the system, the doctors’ union said.
Jančo further told SITA that patients see as the biggest problem the government’s general attitude to health care, which is negative, not active and progressive enough and not corresponding with what the politicians have been promising.
The union’s president added that things must change, as the decline in quality and accessibility of health care is obvious and the government is responsible for it. The union presented the results of the survey to the highest constitutional representatives and released them on its Internet website. SITA
