Julie Finley, founder of the NGO the American Council for Nato, said in an interview with the daily paper Sme that enlargement of the Alliance may involve up to seven countries, and that she saw hope in the fact that even though Vladimír Mečiar’s opposition HZDS party leads polls in Slovakia, President Rudolf Schuster is not bound by the Constitution to entrust the winner of September elections with forming a government. “For God’s sake, don’t give us a reason for Slovakia not to be invited,” she said.
