Draft state budget will be top issue at December parliament session

MPs are due to discuss 99 items on the preliminary agenda, including four bills vetoed by the president and a draft bill to freeze MPs’ salaries, which will be submitted using via the fast-tracked legislative procedure.

Parliament will attempt to elect the heads and officials of several government agencies, the SITA newswire wrote. MPs will elect the chairperson and two vice-chairpersons of the Supreme Audit Office, the national ombudsman, a member of the Council for Broadcasting and Retransmission, a member of the Regulatory Council, a member of the council of Radio and Television of Slovakia (RTVS), and candidates for members of committees executing selection procedures for vacant judicial positions. The package of vetoed bills includes the revision to the law on the Judicial Council, judges and lay-judges, municipal taxes and labour inspections.
