THE NUMBER of people prosecuted in drug related crime in 2003 rose 21 percent over that of the previous year.
The state-run news agency TASR wrote that the unemployed and young people aged between 18 and 30 years were the most frequent perpetrators.
As much as 55 percent of drug crime took place in the Bratislava region.
The Slovak police force spokeswoman Magda Krasulová said that based on the findings of the National anti-drug unit, charges were laid in 1,059 cases.
