AN AUCTON of one of the so-called Ducký bills of exchange - named after Ján Ducký, who headed the Slovak gas utility Slovenský plynárenský priemysel (SPP) in the mid-1990s - was held on June 13 in Prague, but failed to attract even a single bid.
The bill of exchange is signed by Ducký and obliges SPP to pay 1 billion Czech crowns (Sk1.3 billon) to the bill's owner. The auction's starting price was set at 350 million Czech crowns, but nobody entered a bid, SITA wrote.
It is now up to Bolzano Enterprises Ltd, which owns the bill and proposed the auction, to decide whether to try again.
Ducký was the director of SPP and served as economy minister under the Vladimír Mečiar government before being shot dead in 1999. His murder is still under investigation.
