Dutch ambassador receives Golden Plaque

Richard van Rijssen, whose mission ends soon, will be replaced by current representative of the Netherlands at the UN in Geneva.

Dutch Ambassador to Slovakia Richard van Rijssen was awarded the Golden Plaque by Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák.

The ambassador, whose diplomatic mission will soon end, helped encourage the good relations between Slovakia and the Netherlands, Lajčák said, as reported by the TASR newswire.

According to a press release from the ministry, relations between the Netherlands and Slovakia became even stronger during their cooperation as part of the trio of EU Council presidencies in 2016.

Van Rijssen will be replaced by Dutch diplomat Henk van der Kwast, who currently serves as Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva and Disarmament Ambassador at Large, TASR reported.
