Dzurinda attends Council of EU Foreign Affairs meeting in Brussels

Foreign Affairs Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda attended a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, the TASR newswire reported. The meeting was convened to discuss the drafting of an EU stance prior to a December conference on Afghanistan.

In his address to the meeting, Dzurinda stressed that EU's continuous involvement in Afghanistan is crucial. Conclusions were also prepared on the latest developments in Libya and Tunisia and a decision was made to impose sanctions on Syria.

Dzurinda welcomed the efforts by High Representative Catherine Ashton's vis-à-vis the situation in Tunisia and the establishment of a Tunisia-EU Task Force.
