SDKÚ deputy chairman Eduard Kukan described Dzurinda as a good party chairman who has contributed the most to the party's strong position.

The congress also voted on the party’s deputy chair positions and elected former Labor Minister Iveta Radičova to a chairperson's post. Radičová is a newcomer to the SDKÚ. She only recently joined the party, although she has worked for the SDKÚ for some time. As a new deputy chairwoman, she will be responsible for social affairs and healthcare.

Other reelected deputy chairmen are Eduard Kukan (foreign policy), Ivan Mikloš (economy and education), Milan Horth (domestic affairs), Pavol Kubovič (local and regional policy) and Juraj Liška (security policy).
