Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda’s first foreign visit after being returned to power in September elections was to Poland, where he told Polish PM Leszek Miller the two neighbours were “strategic partners”.
The central European countries, as well as Hungary and the Czech Republic, will following their entry to the EU in 2004 have more votes combined in the European Parliament than France and Germany together, and could have a major impact on EU decision-making.
The nations, as well as other EU candidates, are to meet in Warsaw on November 15 to coordinate pre-entry policy.
