A poll by the Statistics Office has found that the voter trust rating of Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda, returning to office following a four-year term, shot up in October from the month before to put him in second place behind opposition maverick Robert Fico. Dzurinda rose from 9.3 per cent support in September to 16.5 per cent in October following parliamentary elections. Fico, meanwhile, slipped from 21.5 per cent to 17.0 per cent in the same time, while opposition HZDS party leader Vladimír Mečiar dropped from 19.7 to 14.7 per cent.
