Following several months of a positive trend, economic sentiment in Slovakia worsened in June, as the Slovak Statistics Office said on June 28 that its economic sentiment indicator dropped 0.8 points month-on-month to 91.8 points due to unfavourable developments of all components of the indicator, except the services sector, the SITA newswire reported. The indicator is lower than in the same period of last year, by 3.7 points and is lagging its long-term average by 5.8 points.
The confidence indicator in industry in June fell 0.7 points to 2 points, which brought it moderately below the long-term average by three points. The confidence indicator in the construction sector dropped in June from the previous month by 1.5 points to minus 37.5 and lags behind of the long-term average by 12.5 points.
The confidence indicator in trade dropped 5.6 points to 1.7 points in June from the previous month. Consumer sentiment did not change much in June, as it dropped 0.1 points from May to minus 22.6 points. Compared with the same period of last year, consumer sentiment is higher by 2.1 points.
