The mood in the Slovak economy worsened during September. The economic sentiment indicator fell by 0.9 to 92.7 percentage points this month, the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic stated.
Sinking confidence in industry, services and consumer confidence contributed most to this decline. In annual terms, the economic sentiment indicator rose by 17.5 percent but still remains 5.7 percentage points below the long-term average. The confidence indicator in industry continued falling in September, by 1 point to minus 0.3 percentage points. The indicator remains 3.3 points below its long-term average, the SITA newswire wrote. Its development was affected by an expected decrease in industrial manufacturing for the upcoming three months and an increase in the inventory of industrial products.
Meanwhile, the consumer atmosphere indicator sank for the third consecutive month; it decreased by 0.7 points to minus 22.5 points. The indicator remains 1.8 points higher than it was a year ago.
