Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek nominated Juraj Kiesel to the post of director of the Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade Development (SARIO) on May 11 to secure continuous activity, capacity for action and the functionality of the Agency, the TASR newswire was told by ministry spokesman Darius Bosják.
“He is a long-time diplomat and knows what foreign trade means. He personally brought many foreign businessmen to the negotiation table and to meet me. He’s an expert and has my confidence,” said Jahnátek.
Kiesel has worked for SARIO since 2004 and headed its international missions department as an expert on the Middle East before being nominated for the post of director. He was also responsible for communications between the business sector and business partners, the preparation and running of business missions, international fairs, exhibitions and co-operative events. Until 2003, he worked as a co-ordinator and interpreter for technical groups in the Middle East for the Slovak state and later managed his own business.
The former director Peter Hajaš was recalled from his post by Jahnátek after he was instructed to do so by Prime Minister Robert Fico on May 7. Jahnátek didn't want to elaborate on why Hajaš was recalled. TASR
