Economy minister seeks approval for state aid to Samsung

A few weeks after electronics manufacturer Samsung was rumoured to be considering leaving Slovakia Economy Minister Juraj Miškov has submitted for interdepartmental review a proposal to provide the company with state financial aid amounting to €28 million, the Sme daily reported.

The Galanta-based company, which has previously received investment stimuli amounting to €110 million, intends to use the new aid to modernise production of LED TV screens and launch production of 3D, SMART and OLED TV sets.

The investment will not be used to create new jobs but rather to secure 950 existing jobs, according to information released by Samsung.
