Education Ministry sent old textbooks to Slovaks in the US

Slovaks living in the United States will soon receive 499 textbooks from their country of origin. This concerns Slovak language, literature and homeland studies textbooks that have been weeded out in Slovakia as outdated compared to the latest curricula. They would have been discarded if they had not been sent to the US; Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry spokesperson Beata Dupalová Ksenzsighová informed the TASR newswire.

“The books will serve well to our compatriots – students of the Czech and Slovak School in Astoria, New York, who don’t want to forget about Slovakia and asked us for books,” Education Minister Peter Pellegrini said. “They can find various books in the package, including the primer, up to textbooks for the final grade of primary school.”

The package was delivered to New York by the end of September, by the government plane that took President Andrej Kiska to the UN General Assembly.
