A WOMAN from the village of Ladice in Nitra Region, aged 84, had a shocking experience in early June when she was accosted in her home in the pre-dawn darkness by a male stranger who shined a flashlight beam in her eyes and announced that he was "her guardian angel".
When the frightened pensioner asked him what he wanted, he told her not to be afraid but to just give him her money. The elderly lady replied that she had no money. After a brief discussion, the man left the house. Because the man had apparently turned off the power before entering the house, the woman had to spend the remaining hours of darkness cowering in fear in her home.
When the sun came up the lady rushed next door and told her neighbour the story who reported the incident to the police. The TASR newswire wrote that Božena Bruchterová, the spokesperson for the Nitra Regional police, said the man entered the house through the roof.
The perpetrator could face up to eight years in jail. Fortunately, the woman suffered no harm and there was no property damage.
