EIGHT HUNDRED tons of paper will be used to produce the election sheets for the upcoming general elections in September, an amount that is already causing nightmares among regional authorities responsible for transporting and distributing them to voters.
Representatives of the country's Regional Offices said the transport and manipulation of the sheets will be particularly problematic for bigger constituencies like the Žilina and Nitra regions, which have about 120,000 registered voters, meaning nine tons of party candidate lists and 20 tons of election sheets.
Even a small constituency like Banská Štiavnica in central Slovakia, with 13,500 eligible voters, will have to tackle one ton of lists and 1.7 tons of election sheets.
