REPRESENTATIVES of the Slovak Association of Employers (AZZZ) and the National Employers' Association (RÚZ) walked out of the Social Partnership Council's March 12 session.
They did so after representatives of the Slovak government and trade unions turned down their request to have the draft revision of the Labour Code included in the session's agenda. The trade unionists argued that they wanted to discuss certain points of the draft revision with government representatives first. In the end the tripartite did not discuss any of the points of the agenda on March 12.
"Monday's session further confirmed that the Confederation of Trade Unions does not have an interest in constructive dialogue about the Labour Code," said Rastislav Machunka, a member of the AZZZ presidium. RÚZ vice-president Juraj Špirko said he was sad that representatives of the government and trade unions did not use the opportunity provided by Monday's session to debate the changes within the Labour Code.
