Over 2.19 million people were employed in Slovakia in the first quarter of this year, according to a flash estimate of the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ). Compared with the same period in 2012, this represents a 1-percent decrease, the TASR newswire reported, quoting the ŠÚ. After a seasonal adjustment, employment decreased in comparison with the first quarter of 2012 by 0.9 percent, and compared with the fourth quarter of 2012 by 0.3 percent.
In the fourth quarter of last year, almost 2.195 million people were employed in Slovakia, which was an annual decrease of 0.6 percent. After a seasonal adjustment, employment in the last quarter of 2012 declined when compared with the fourth quarter of 2011 by 0.5 percent, and by 0.4 percent in comparison with the third quarter of 2012.
