THE EMPLOYMENT in selected industries rose in January 2014 compared to the previous year. In information and communication technologies it rose by 4.3 percent, in selected market services by 1.9 percent, in industry by 1.1 percent, in transporting and warehousing by 0.9 percent and in accommodation by 0.2 percent, the Statistics Office reported on March 13.
On the other hand, the number of employees dropped in wholesale by 1.8 percent, in sale and maintenance of motor vehicles by 1.3 percent, in retail by 0.9 percent, in construction and restaurant services by 0.8 percent each.
Regarding the average nominal monthly wage, it increased in wholesale by 10.3 percent year-on-year to €824, in information and telecommunication technologies by 9.2 percent y/y (to €1,797), in sale and maintenance of motor vehicles by 8.2 percent y/y (to €831), in transport and warehousing by 6.9 percent y/y (to €758), in industry by 4.7 percent y/y (to €883), in retail by 3.2 percent y/y (to €579), in accommodation by 1.2 percent y/y (to €584) and in selected market services by 0.8 percent (to €826). It dropped only in restaurant services by 1.9 percent y/y to €363 and in construction by 0.2 percent y/y to €580.
The average real monthly wage in January 2014 (compared to January 2013) rose in wholesale by 10.3 percent, in information and communication technologies by 9.2 percent, in sale and maintenance of motor vehicles by 8.2 percent, in transport and warehousing by 6.9 percent, in industry by 4.7 percent, in retail by 3.2 percent, in accommodation by 1.2 percent and selected market services by 0.8 percent. It decreased only in restaurant services by 1.9 percent and construction by 0.2 percent, according to the Statistics Office.
