Employment went up slightly in some sectors

Several sectors in Slovakia reported a slight annual increase in employment in June, according to Slovakia’s Statistics Office.

Several sectors in Slovakia reported a slight annual increase in employment in June, according to Slovakia’s Statistics Office.

The highest growth was recorded in selected market services, by 13.3 percent year-on-year, followed by IT and telecommunications with 6.3 percent year-on-year, housing with 1.8 percent year-on-year, and restaurants and pubs with 0.9 percent year-on-year.

On the other hand, several sectors reported a drop compared to the numbers recorded last year. The sales and maintenance of motor vehicles reported an annual drop at 4.9 percent, while transportation fell by 3.5 percent year-on-year, the construction industry by 3 percent, retail by 1.3 percent, wholesale by 0.7 percent and industry by 0.4 percent.
