ITALIAN company Enel, the future owner of Slovak power producer Slovenské elektrárne (SE), wants to review disadvantageous contracts that SE concluded in the past, the daily SME reported.
Economy Minister Pavol Rusko considers Enel’s demand unacceptable. He warned that if Enel did not withdraw its demand he would propose the cancellation of the privatization decision, although the Slovak government has already approved Enel as the winner of the SE privatization tender.
The state sold the power producer, including the disadvantageous contracts. Taking on the disadvantageous contracts was part of the terms of privatization.
The discussion pertains to long-term contracts with SE on power supply to Slovalco and Paroplynový cyklus, which caused SE big losses. Enel is demanding that the state take over some of the commitments to Slovalco.
