Environmental NGO files court motions related to National Park re-zoning

The Slovak NGO called VLK (Wolf)has submitted motions to the Žilina Regional Court and the Prešov Regional Court to initiate court proceedings charging inactivity by the regional environmental offices of state administrations in Prešov and Žilina, the SITA newswire wrote on April 15.

The head VLK, Juraj Lukáč, told SITA that "VLK also submitted to the Supreme Court of the Slovak Republic a proposal to start proceedings on protection against unlawful interventions by public administration authorities in preparation of the zoning of the High Tatras National Park
(TANAP)“.

The NGO also delivered a criminal complaint to the Bratislava District Prosecutor’s Office about Jozef Vojtek, an employee of the Environment Ministry, who permitted logging in the locality of the Tichá Dolina and Kôprová Dolina valleys with the highest degree of protection since, according to the association, the public official violated the law when exercising his authority.
