AMERICAN company Environmental Quality Management (EQ), based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is to invest in Eastern Slovakia. The company's representatives announced the launch of a daughter company in Košice on December 13, the TASR news agency reported.
The environmental, engineering and financial-restructuring company focuses on environmental research and expertise using advanced technology in environmental projects. Its main focus is checking air quality.
The company's Slovak branch - EQ Engineers Slovakia - is set to employ 50 people, mostly highly-qualified engineers, by the end of 2006, EQ president Ronald Hawks said at news conference.
Within the next five years, the number of people working for the firm in Slovakia should increase to 90. The initial investment of $200,000 (€167,000) will rise to $3.5 million (€3 million) per year. Hawks stated that the company decided to come to Slovakia thanks to its good business environment, qualified work force and development prospects.
EQ Engineers Slovakia will be based in Košice thanks to the mediatory efforts of the Economic Development Centre of steel producer US Steel, which will be the American investor's first client.
