Epiphany train ride

THE TRAIN operating as a tourist attraction on the track between Trenčianska Teplá and Trenčianske Teplice first set out on the rails on January 6, the holiday of Epiphany.The train made three trips in both directions that afternoon, starting at 13:00 from Trenčianska Teplá and at 13:40 from Trenčianske Teplice, Trenčianske Teplice Mayor Štefan Škultéty told the TASR newswire. The regular operation of the narrow-gauge railway started in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but was stopped on December 11, 2011 after more than 100 years, due to a lack of profitability.

However, trains did not stop travelling the historical route completely: a group of train enthusiasts has taken over the operation of the Trenčín Electric Railway (TREŽ), and they aim to make it an attraction for visitors during the spa season in Trenčianske Teplice, but also during special cultural events and holidays, like Epiphany.
