THE STATE administration is set for a reform as of the beginning of 2013, after President Ivan Gašparovič signed a bill pertaining to measures in the local state administration into law on November 8, the SITA newswire reported.
The reform, entitled ESO (an acronym for the Slovak equivalent of Effective, Reliable and Open state administration), was initiated by the Interior Ministry. It plans to close 64 specialised regional offices, including offices of regional education, construction and local military administration, as well as regional environment, regional land registry, regional forestry, road transport and land administration offices.
The reform will result in 199 state employees losing their jobs, and the state budget will thus save an estimated €3.2 million in the first stage of the reform, SITA wrote.
