THE EUROPEAN Parliament's Budget Committee agreed to allocate EU Solidarity Fund aid for the High Tatras.
Committee member and Slovak MEP Vladimír Maňka said that €5.7 million (Sk221 million) in financial aid should be available in September, the SITA news agency reported.
The European Parliament must still approve the sum at the beginning of September, but Maňka expects this to be a mere technicality.
The Slovak cabinet asked for the financial aid from the EU Solidarity Fund in January and the European Commission agreed to an aid allocation at the beginning of June.
The funding will mainly be used to renovate tourist facilities and reforest areas affected by the November 2004 windstorm.
