The European Commission said on August 25 that it was not ready to comment on declarations from the Slovak government concerning the possible expropriation of the country's energy monopolies as a way of keeping down energy prices.
"We can only emphasise that under single-market investment rules, there can be no discrimination between private and state-owned businesses,” EC spokesperson Amerlia Torres said. “This is a general rule and all that I can comment on right now." TASR
