Annual inflation in Slovakia measured according to EU methodology dropped from 0.6 percent in July to a record low of 0.5 percent in August, the Slovak Statistics Office reported on September 16.
The biggest year-on-year price increases in August were recorded in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (9 percent), in healthcare (8.3 percent), and in education (6.4 percent).
Conversely, prices fell by 5.9 percent year-on-year in food and non-alcoholic beverages and in transport. Other reductions were: in furniture and household equipment (2.9 percent), in clothing and footwear (1.1 percent), and in cultural events and holidays (0.8 percent).
Inflation measured according to national methodology also fell in August, dropping to 1.3 percent, the TASR newswire wrote.
