Year-on-year inflation measured by EU-harmonised methodology stood at zero in November 2009, the Statistics Office said on Wednesday, December 16. Prices grew by 0.3 percent month-on-month in November. EU-harmonised inflation went into negative figures for the first time in Slovakia in October, standing at -0.1 percent, the TASR wrote.
Inflation measured by national methodology, according to figures published last week, remained unchanged in November at the October level of 0.4 percent, a record low. According to calculations made for November in line with EU methodology, alcohol and tobacco prices grew most rapidly (by 8.9 percent), followed by the price of healthcare services (7.6 percent). The biggest year-on-year drop was recorded in prices for food and non-alcoholic drinks (5.1 percent) and in furniture, household equipment and routine maintenance (3.2 percent).
