SLOVAKIA ranks 21st out of the EU25, and last among the newest member states, in terms of meeting the target dates set for the adoption of EU legislation, the TASR news agency wrote.
According to the EC Secretariat's most recent list, Slovakia should have adopted a total of 2,594 directives by May 2, 2005. However, 48 directives were missing, which gives Slovakia a 98.15 percent fulfilment rate.
Portugal, Greece, Luxembourg and Italy are the only countries lower down the list than Slovakia. The Czech
Republic ranks 20th, with a 98.85-percent fulfilment rate.
Two new EU member states - Lithuania (99.85 percent) and Poland (99.5 percent) - top the list, followed by Denmark, Finland and Spain. The average EU rate is 98.69 percent.
The EC General Secretariat publishes the rate of EU legislation adoption quarterly. Slovakia ranked 20th in the previous list.
