EU offers jobs to new EU members

THE EUROPEAN Union is organizing a competition for citizens of the 10 new member states who would like to work with the EU, the SME daily reported.

Candidates must have either a diploma at the post-secondary level, followed by at least five years of professional experience in the field, or have graduated from secondary education with at least eight years professional experience. A good command of English, French or German is essential, as a test will be administered in one of these languages.

It will take at least nine months before final selections are made. First tests will take place in the spring.

In last year's competition, the European personnel selection office chose 250 out of 5,000 Slovak applicants for positions with the EU.
