The European Parliament and the Foundation of the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen invite young people from all the EU Member States to participate in a competition on EU development, integration and European identity issues.
The 'European Charlemagne Youth Prize' is awarded to projects, which promote the European and international understanding, foster the development of a shared sense of European identity and integration, serve as a role model for young people living in Europe and offer practical examples of Europeans living together as one community. These can be organising activities for youth, exchange stays, internet cooperation with a European dimension, etc.
On a national level, the best project will be selected by national jury and submitted to the next round on the European level. Here, three winning projects will be selected and awarded financial prizes of €5,000, €3,000 and €2,000. The winners will also be invited to visit the European Parliament either in Brussels or in Strasbourg in May 2008.
