European Commission reminds government about transparency requirement

The European Commission has said that Prime Minister Robert Fico needs to be mindful of the need for transparency when handling EU funds.

The European Commission has said that Prime Minister Robert Fico needs to be mindful of the need for transparency when handling EU funds.

Katharina von Schnurbein, spokesperson for the Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities Commissioner, said that Fico should not forget, with respect to EU co-financed projects, that it is not enough to take into consideration just the general rules but also basic principles of transparency, equal treatment and correct competition.
