Jan Figeľ denied the information circulating that he would run in the coming elections to become the chairman of the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), the TASR newswire reported.
“No, my aim is to finalize the responsibility and the work of the commissioner and that is the primary answer,” TASR quoted him as saying. “When I will have finished my work, I can talk about another.”
TASR reported that the current KDH chairman Pavol Hrušovský wants to negotiate the position of the party’s leading personalities before the elections that will take place in three months. Figeľ denied that he had negotiations with Hrušovský about the elections.
On February 12, Pavol Abrhan of KDH said that the party has already discussed several possible candidates for the position of the chairman, including the current vice-chairman Daniel Lipšic.
“But as I see it, mainly Ján Figeľ and Pavol Hrušovský are discussed,” he told TASR.
