European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek on Monday, August 30, issued a statement in which he expressed his utmost sorrow and shock over the shooting rampage in Bratislava that left eight people (including the gunman) dead, Ivana Janíková-Stavrovská, the press secretary of the European Parliament's Information Office in Bratislava told the TASR newswire.
“On behalf of the European Parliament, I would like to convey my sympathy to all Slovak citizens. We are expressing our sincere condolences to the families of those who were killed in the incident, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery,” said Buzek in his statement. He also gave thanks to authorities and rescue services for their efforts.
