MORE and more Slovaks prefer to leave it to the professionals when it comes to the chores associated with preparing for Christmas – according to a survey carried out by STEM/MARK agency on behalf of the Home Credit loan company.
“People like to leave many activities to others in order to save some time,” Home Credit analyst Michal Kozub told the TASR newswire. “However, you shouldn’t forget the family budget in this case. While some activities consume €1, house cleaning and baking can amount to even €100 when put together. ”
Some 48 percent of the respondents have had gifts wrapped at stores, according to the survey. In addition, 42 percent admitted that they have had Christmas biscuits and cakes baked by somebody else; while 23 stated that they pay for carp that has already been killed, scaled and cleaned. Approximately one in five households (19 percent) has their flat cleaned by someone external.
Some people were found to be paying for complete preparation of their Christmas dinner, with the services of restaurants and/or catering agencies used mainly by people who decide to spend Christmas with the wider family.
Nevertheless, there are still enough people who manage to do all these chores by themselves. According to the results of the survey, as many as 77 percent of respondents contributed towards Christmas preparations last year; with another 18 percent claiming that they took care of everything themselves.
