German radio station Deutsche Welle launched an exhibition entitled “I believe in the good of people” dedicated to the memory of former Czechoslovak statesman Alexander Dubček, the main figure of the Prague Spring in Czechoslovakia four decades ago.
Addressing the show staged by Deutsche Welle in conjunction with the Slovak embassy in Germany, Slovak Foreign Ministry State Secretary Oľga Algayerová recalled the invasion, which were a violen end to the reform process.
Deutsche Welle editor-in-chief Miodrag Soric highlighted the role of the radio station in August 1968 and during Normalisation, when it was one of the sources of an uncensored news service beamed into Czechoslovakia.
The opening of the exhibition, which will run through September 13, 2008, was attended by some 150 invitees including compatriots who witnessed the developments of 1968, Slovak honorary consuls headquartered in Wuppertal and Bad Homburg, as well as leaders of the Alexander Dubček Society. TASR
