The Slovak Euro Coins exhibit that opened at the Žilina Library on May 10 aims to inform citizens about the introduction of the euro in Slovakia, which is set to take place on January 1, 2009.
The exhibition is part of a campaign recently launched by the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS).
"We don't view the introduction of the euro itself as the target, but we see it as a tool for the further improvement of the efficiency of our economy," said NBS governor Ivan Šramko.
Slovak Euro Coins has on display 144 draft proposals, including the three winning proposals for Slovak euro coins. Another part of the exhibition is devoted to euro coins from all 13 countries currently in the current euro zone, as well as those from San Marino, Monaco, and the Vatican.
The exhibition has been visited by several thousand people in Bratislava, Kremnica (Banská Bystrica region), Banská Bystrica, Košice, Trnava and Prešov.
