The first places in the chart of satisfaction went – in individual categories – to the University Hospital in Martin, Teaching Hospital Trenčín, Liptov Hospital with Polyclinic of doctor Ivan Stodola in Liptovský Mikuláš, and Sanatorium Koch in Bratislava. The individual categories represent levels of neonatology care, the TASR newswire wrote on July 13.

The results stem from the internet evaluation, the Maternity Hospitals Guide. The overall ranking consisted of three parts – expert evaluation, evaluation of services, and mothers’s evaluation. In total 3,134 women voted online, and the expert parameters were elaborated by the central-European think-tank Health Policy Institute (HPI) with the Slovak Gynaecology-Obstetrical Association.

Experts had different criteria than mothers but they overlapped in some areas.

The project has been elaborated since 2001; it stems from cooperation between HPI and website www.rodinka.sk and support from Mama a Ja magazine. Since the beginning of the project, more than 18,000 mothers have voted.
