PHONE numbers of about three million customers of the EuroTel and Orange mobile operators have been leaked to the public - including numbers of politicians, judges, and businessmen, the Slovak daily SME wrote.
The database comes from 2002 when the mobile phone companies had to provide the two institutions with lists of their customers.
Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) spokesman Vladimír Šimko said that the service was aware of the leak and was investigating the case. "SIS has a CD that it obtained from an organised crime environment that carries a list of data from the operators of the mobile phone network," he said.
Interior Ministry spokesman Boris Ažaltovič said the ministry was also investigating the leak.
According to SME, which obtained the database from a "source close to the hackers' community", the list includes, for example, the phone number of SIS boss Ladislav Pittner.
