The Fair-Play Alliance NGO has asked the Bratislava Prosecutor's Office to file a complaint for unwarranted self-enrichment in the so-called bulletin-board tender, Zuzana Wienk from Fair-Play told the TASR newswire on July 28.
“We're asking the Prosecutor's Office to either deal with our criminal complaint or to initiate proceedings itself,” said Wienk, restating that the alliance filed a criminal complaint against the Construction and Regional Development Ministry in May and demanded that judicial authorities declare the contract stemming from the bulletin-board tender invalid from the outset.
The former Construction and Regional Development Minister, Marián Janušek from the Slovak National Party (SNS), was ousted from his post in April amid a huge out roar over a contract awarded to a consortium of companies close to SNS chairman Jan Slota for advertising and other services. The tender was announced only on a ministry bulletin board.
“In the complaint, we ask that the agreement with members of the consortium... should be cancelled, as we consider it absolutely invalid. In our opinion, it was concluded at odds with the law and it shouldn't have been carried out at all,” said Wienk, labelling the agreement as unwarranted self-enrichment of the consortium, as well as the ministry, and calling for the remuneration to be returned.
The Fair-Play Alliance is concerned that the court will turn down their complaint saying that such a complaint may only be filed by an institution such as the ministry or the Prosecutor's Office, not by a common taxpayer like the alliance. For that reason the alliance has appealed to the Prosecutor's Office to take its own steps, TASR wrote. TASR
