February foreign trade surplus revised down to €341.2 million

Slovakia's foreign trade surplus reached €341.2 million in February 2012, the Statistics Office (ŠÚ) announced, revising downwards its preliminary figure of €347.7 million.

Slovakia's foreign trade surplus reached €341.2 million in February 2012, the Statistics Office (ŠÚ) announced, revising downwards its preliminary figure of €347.7 million.

The aggregate foreign trade surplus for the first two months of the year was €646.8 million, an increase of €229.7 million compared to 2011.

Overall, exports for the first two months of 2012 rose 8.5 percent year-on-year to €9.156 billion, the SITA newswire quoted the ŠÚ as finding. In terms of the structure of exported goods, the Statistics Office reported the strongest growth in exports of cars and other motor vehicles for passenger transport, up by €100.6 million. Imports in January grew 6 percent to €8.509 billion. With regard to the structure of imports, those of parts, components and equipment of motor vehicles surged most - by €96.8 million. Imports of components of devices for transmission of radio or TV broadcasting fell most, by €153.1 million.
