Fewer laws next year

THE SLOVAK parliament will approve fewer laws in 2004 compared to previous years. While in 2003 the MPs approved 153 laws, only 150 legialstive tasks are on the agenda for next year, of which 124 are proposed laws.

Following Slovakia’s planned EU entry in May 2004 all directives of the union will be automatically binding for member states, leading to a drop in legislation, the daily SME wrote on December 22.
