Fico most, Dzurinda least trusted, poll shows

A POLL by the MVK agency has shown that Robert Fico, the leader of the country's strongest opposition party, Smer, remains the most trusted politician in Slovakia, enjoying the support of 33.2 percent of respondents.

The second most trusted politician is President Ivan Gašparovič, who has the confidence of 28.4 percent of respondents. Third is Béla Bugár, the chairman of the ruling coalition Hungarian Coalition Party, with 10.4 percent support.

Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda was chosen as the least trusted politician by 48.7 percent of respondents, the SITA news agency reported. The second least trusted politician is the chairman of the opposition Movement for a Democratic Slovakia, Vladimír Mečiar (30.9 percent). Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš ranked third with 23.7 percent.
